EC decision specifying the pro-rata contributions to the Union CO₂ injection capacity objective
The European Commission has published its decision on the pro rata contributions required from oil and gas producers toward achieving the EU’s CO₂ injection capacity target by 2030.
As part of the EU Net-Zero Industry Act, which aims to develop a market for CO₂ storage, companies holding oil and gas exploitation authorizations within the EU will be required to contribute to the Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) objective of 50 Mtons of injection capacity by 2030.
The letter includes a company-by-company breakdown of the required contributions.
