Von der Leyen letter in preparation to the Competitivness Council 19 march 2026
The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in preparation to the European Competitivness Council on 19 and 20 march 2026, a letter whith different proposals to support the industry to recover its competitivness.
Proposals relevant for the industry are related to lower the price for electricty:
- PPAs in combination with Cfds
- Lower grid and networkcosts
- Lowering electricity taxes
On lowering carbon costs:
- Review of the benchmarsk considering the concerns of the industry
- Flexibilize the Market Stability Reserve
